Traveling to both the Arctic and Antarctic always felt like a dream where you journey to the ends of the Earth to witness nature at its wildest. The Arctic, with its ice sheets, glaciers, and abundant wildlife, is paradise for photographers like me, while Antarctica’s endless snowfields and towering icebergs evoke a feeling of profound isolation and awe. But beyond the thrill of adventure, these places offer a deeper connection to the planet’s beauty and ever-changing ecosystems.

I embarked on my first Arctic cruise to Svalbard, a remote Norwegian archipelago in the Arctic Ocean in 2023 with Aurora Expeditions, a small ship cruising company that operates in the polar regions. Earlier this year, I set sail again to explore the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands. At first glance, the two regions appear as mirror images—icy, remote, and full of extremes. But despite their shared latitudes and frozen landscapes, each has distinct identities and offers unique perspectives on our planet’s rawness and fragility.

Geography versus topography

Piotr Damski, an expedition guide and Arctic expert with the company, suggests differentiating the two based on geography and not just topography. Antarctica is a continent surrounded by ocean, while the Arctic is an ocean surrounded by land. While towering, jagged mountains are indicative of Antarctica, the Arctic isn’t entirely flat. Greenland, Baffin Island and Svalbard (sometimes referred to as Spitsbergen) all have dramatic peaks of their own, but in general if you’re seeing a vast, frozen ocean with land on the horizon, it’s probably the Arctic.

Another key difference is crossing into the polar circles. Both mark latitudes where the sun never sets for at least one day a year. However, because Antarctica is so vast, most cruise ships don’t reach the Antarctic Circle. In contrast, it’s easier to venture inside the Arctic Circle , where the midnight sun illuminates the ice in midsummer.

In terms of size Antarctica is larger in landmass, while the Arctic has a greater total area including ice-covered waters. Though poles apart (pun intended), Antarctica is colder than the Arctic, with winter temperatures reaching -90 degrees C (-130 degrees F), while the Arctic remains milder with temperatures as low as -69 degrees C (-92 degrees F) due to the ocean’s moderating effect.

Whaling in the polar regions

While whaling has been around for thousands of years, commercial whaling began as early as the 17th century. Whales were hunted globally almost to extinction. Whale oil fueled street lamps and lubricated machines in Europe, and their baleen was used for corsets and fishing rods.

Because the Arctic is surrounded by big, populous continents, it’s no surprise that early polar exploration, research, and commercial whaling took off there first. By the 17th century, whalers had already set up shop in Svalbard, rendering blubber into oil on-site and shipping it to Europe. When Arctic whale populations dwindled, whalers turned their sights south.

Unlike the small, scattered Arctic whaling sites that left little trace, Antarctic operations were massive industrial slaughterhouses. In the early 20th century, over 175,000 whales were killed just in South Georgia, a remote island in the South Atlantic. At Deception Island, a former whaling station, rusting machinery and scattered bones on black volcanic sand are haunting reminders of this history. Experiencing it first-hand made me reflect on how much of the world’s past remains frozen in time, waiting to be uncovered.

Exploration and science

For centuries, the poles have been at the forefront of exploration. Antarctic explorations started in the late 18th century. Between 1897 and 1922, the “Heroic Age of Polar Exploration,” 17 major expeditions contributed to scientific discoveries on its ecology. The race to the South Pole had a clear winner with Roald Amundsen reaching it first in 1911, beating Sir Robert Falcon Scott by five weeks. Today, Antarctica hosts 70 research stations from countries including Argentina, Chile, Great Britain, and the U.S. supporting both year-round and summer-only research.

In contrast, Arctic exploration dates to the Ancient Greeks, intensifying in the 15th century with the search for new trade routes. The race to the North Pole was equally dramatic, with Frederick Cook (1908), Robert Peary (1909), and even Roald Amundsen (1926) all having disputed claims about being first. Unlike Antarctica, where expeditions left permanent markers, the Arctic’s shifting sea ice makes historical claims difficult to verify.

Polar wildlife

For travelers, the best wildlife encounters tend to be on the outer islands like South Georgia and South Shetland in Antarctica and Svalbard in the Arctic rather than the mainland because wildlife thrives near nutrient-rich waters.

The Arctic is home to polar bears, while Antarctica’s most famous residents are penguins but each region hosts seals, whales and seabirds uniquely adapted to these extreme environments. In Antarctica, massive southern elephant seals take center stage while in the Arctic, it’s the walrus. The wandering albatross, with the world’s largest wingspan, glides over the Southern Ocean, while the north is home to puffins which I find to be one of the most charming birds I’ve ever seen.

And while polar bears roam the Arctic, Antarctica has its own top predator, the leopard seal. Unlike the playful seals most people picture, these animals are sleek, fast and incredibly intelligent hunters. They are the closest thing Antarctica has to a polar bear in terms of sheer dominance. And of course, both have many different species of whales. At the end of the day, wildlife is one of the biggest highlights of any polar adventure.

A traveler’s perspective

I had an incredible time in both regions, and traveling with Aurora Expeditions made it both exciting and educational, with expert-led lectures and hands-on citizen science projects providing valuable insights into each.

In the Arctic, the thrill of navigating sea ice and the richness of wildlife made it more impressive than I expected. The animals share space with Indigenous communities that have lived here for centuries so they can sometimes be difficult to spot. I remember watching a polar bear hunt on the ice, then settle in for a nap, while an opportunistic Arctic fox stole scraps of meat before dashing off. The opportunity to experience the midnight sun and, if timed right, the northern lights, added another magical layer to an Arctic cruise.

That said, Antarctica is equally special. At first glance, its vast, inhospitable terrain evokes a sense of silence. But once you tune in, you realize just how loud the bottom of the world really is. The blows and whistles of humpback whales mix with the raucous squabble of penguins, only to be shattered by the thunderous crack of calving glaciers. Meanwhile, in sheltered coves, ice floes bob rhythmically in the current, creating a mesmerizing soundscape.

The wildlife in Antarctica is also remarkably bold. At Recess Cove, curious humpback whales swam around our ship, their blows, tail slaps and spy hops adding a playfulness in the air. At Petermann Island, a lively welcome party of chinstrap, gentoo, and Adelie penguins enthusiastically greeted us. And in Lindblad Cove, massive icebergs dwarfed our ship, making those in the Arctic seem modest.

I loved the idea of being “bi-polar” in the best possible way and appreciating the unique lessons they both offer. As melting sea ice and rising temperatures rapidly transform both poles, environmentalist John Sawhill’s words take on new urgency: “A society is defined not only by what it creates, but by what it refuses to destroy.”

When people imagine their ideal vacation, many think of relaxing in bright, plentiful sunshine while lounging on the beach on a warm summer day. But a new travel trend, noctourism, short for “nocturnal tourism,” offers the complete opposite experience: pursuing nighttime adventures, recreational experiences and stellar events that celebrate nature after dark. Travelers can connect with the universe by witnessing enchanting cosmic phenomena and seeing the world through a different perspective by partaking in unique outdoor activities shrouded in darkness.

Booking.com recently named “noctourism” a top travel trend for 2025, stating that people are increasingly keen on “ditching the daylight crowds for midnight magic.” To gather research about their travel predictions for the coming year, the company polled over 27,000 people spanning 33 countries and territories worldwide. Of those surveyed, the vast majority have plans to eschew sunny holidays in favor of embracing the night on their upcoming travels. Booking.com reports that 62% of respondents want to visit dark sky destinations, 72% hope to have a starbathing experience and 59% want to revel in a “once in a lifetime cosmic event.”

Globally rising temps are another factor causing people to make travel plans that occur at night. Over half of those surveyed want to avoid the sweltering heat and keep cool on their trip, and 42% are selecting a colder locale as their destination.

Night owls, read on to learn more about the logistics of noctourism—what to consider when planning your first after dark travel experience, amazing nighttime activities and even a must-pack travel accessory to elevate your experiences—and discover why you may want to swap the poolside Piña colada for a puffer parka as you chase your next dreamy vacation escape into the shadows.

Noctourism travel: Insight into the trend and tips on making the most of your trip

Stephanie Vermillion is an astrotourism and adventure journalist, photographer and author of the recently released National Geographic book, 100 Nights of a Lifetime: The World’s Ultimate Adventures After Dark. She says nighttime travel “adds a sense of mystery and adventure” to your itinerary that differs entirely from what’s available when the sun is out. “The night is… full of natural wonders we can’t experience by day, like the northern lights, bioluminescence, nocturnal animals and even lunar rainbows,” she says. “I love the idea that simply adjusting our travel hours can help us access an entirely new side of a destination.”

Let a tour guide lead the way through the darkness

If the thought of taking on the night during your next holiday break has you clutching your cocktail umbrella, Vermillion says to seek support for your inaugural foray into darkness. “I’d always, always recommend booking a guide, especially if it’s a new destination…. Having narration from a local guide also makes an experience more enriching! So many parks, destinations and hotels now offer stargazing tours… [and] I think an astro tour is a great place to start.”

Unique noctourism outings are available all over the world

Whether you want to travel internationally or stay stateside, dark travel opportunities are waiting to be unearthed anywhere the sun sets. Vermillion has gone on dozens of nighttime travel expeditions, and two extraordinary experiences stand out to her for being particularly magical.

The first she mentions is night canoeing on the Amazon in Ecuador near Yasuní National Park. “This outing, where we paddled among glow worms and caimans on the moonlit water, was truly multisensory,” she says. “We heard way more wildlife than we saw, especially since many Amazonian critters come out at night. I think this adventure was particularly special because it showed me that travel, especially wildlife travel, doesn’t always have to be about seeing. Sometimes listening to nature is just as enchanting.”

See the northern lights and have other nighttime travel experiences in the U.S. or abroad

The northern lights (aka aurora borealis) are one of the most famous dark sky cosmic events people travel specifically to behold. This captivating and colorful light show that paints the sky can be viewed in many locations all over the globe.

“Chasing the northern lights is considered the most popular nighttime excursion in Sweden, attracting visitors worldwide,” says Josefin Haraldsson, Country Manager & Senior PR Manager USA for Visit Sweden.

Numbers don’t lie, and noctourism is continuing its sky-high trajectory in Sweden. “In Abisko, Swedish Lapland, the number of guest nights during October to December 2024 increased 43% compared to 2023,” she says. “The booking situation for the first quarter is already 14% up compared to the previous year.”

Haraldsson explains the reason people choose this locale is because Sweden’s weather is generally more stable and its clear skies, especially in Abisko, give it a clear advantage over other destinations. “Northern Sweden has vast, sparsely populated areas with little to no light pollution, creating the perfect conditions for seeing the aurora in all its brilliance,” she says.

Haraldsson shares that Sweden is also home to many other night-centric activities including dog sledding in the dark and snow show trekking with torches. She says the destination is also prized for its pristine night skies which enable exceptional stargazing opportunities.

SUCCESS’ Vice President of Marketing and Business Development Cecilia Meis recently experienced the northern lights in Tromso, Norway. “When we heard that winter 2024/25 was the best time to see the Northern Lights—perhaps in our lifetimes—we knew we had to go,” she says. While waiting to witness the phenomenon took time and her tour group wondered whether they’d get to see the marvel, Meis says, “The rollercoaster of anticipation, disappointment, renewed hope and splendor of the experience was unmatched.” Once the lights finally lit up the sky, Meis says, “it felt like witnessing a miracle.”

For Meis, the overnight adventure held a level of mystery and exclusivity that extended beyond the main event of seeing the northern lights. “We stayed warm and alert with campfires, thermoses of soup and pots of hot coffee nestled directly in the fiery logs,” she says.

“Our group of nine ‘light hunters’ bonded over cold toes, sharing stories of travel and home,” she adds. “Our guide told us about how the nine Sami tribes each had differing beliefs about the northern lights and their meaning.”

This likely won’t be Meis’ last nighttime travel adventure. “This experience has opened a new realm of travel opportunities, and we’re already planning our next one—the manta ray night dive off Big Island looks enticing,” she says.

A stateside after-dark experience that left a lasting impact on Vermillion was going aurora hunting in the Great Lakes. “It’s a great year for northern lights—perhaps even better than last year’s incredible low-latitude sightings—and the U.S.’s Great Lakes region, including Minnesota and Michigan, is the best place to scout them due to the position of the geomagnetic north pole,” Vermillion says. “I’ve chased the lights up in northern Michigan and northern Minnesota at least a dozen times (including my luckiest sighting out on Isle Royale National Park). This is one of my favorite experiences because I love… that you don’t have to travel far to see this bucket-list wonder.”

Additional noctourism experiences to book in the U.S. include a nighttime bioluminescence kayak tour in Maine, stargazing in Utah’s Bryce Canyon, Blue Ghost Firefly Forest Bathing in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, a full moon hike at Joshua Tree National Park, Gator Nights Airboat Rides through the Florida Everglades and manta ray night snorkeling in Hawaii, to name just a few.

Skip the sunblock and pack a headlamp

Packing for a dark sky event likely won’t be as easy as popping sunscreen and a couple swimsuits into your carry-on. In addition to packing appropriate clothing, footwear and accessories based on the weather at your destination, Vermillion advises taking a headlamp with the option for red light on your travels to light up your excursion and make the most of your experiences in the dark. “It takes around 20 to 30 minutes for our eyes to adjust to the dark after exposure to bright white light; red light is less disruptive and can help you retain your night vision,” she says. “It’s also believed to be better for animals, so red light can be helpful on, say, safari, too.”

When it comes to planning your next vacation, consider heading into the starry night to broaden your view of the world around you. Noctourism affords you the chance to see things in a whole new light once it’s dark.

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that at the 63 national parks scattered throughout the United States, environmental consciousness is the name of the game.

Sustainability is inherent in the NPS mission,” National Park Service (NPS) spokesperson Kathy Kupper tells SUCCESS®, including the preservation of natural and cultural resources “for the enjoyment, education and inspiration of this and future generations.”

Established in 1916, the NPS prides itself in having long been a world leader in protecting those resources. But there’s a bit of a catch-22 inherent in the mission: the parks are there for people to come visit, explore and enjoy. And people? Well, we’re the ones responsible for the bulk of carbon emissions in the parks, thanks in large part to the vehicles we drive around while visiting them.

Recognizing the need to address sustainability issues head-on, the NPS released the first edition of its Green Parks Plan in 2012. The GPP was first updated in 2016, and the third edition of the plan, released in 2023, presents a “bold vision” for the future of our parks.

“Since 2012, the NPS has made considerable progress towards its sustainability goals,” Kupper explains. “The updated GPP recognizes this progress as well as improvements in science and technology and updates to legislation and executive orders.”

The latest update also streamlines and consolidates GPP goal areas from 10 goals to five:

  • Be Climate Friendly and Climate Ready: Combat the climate crisis by achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions
  • Be Energy Smart and Water Wise: Achieve net-zero water use and net zero energy for facilities and operations
  • Buy Green and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: Achieve net-zero waste and sustainable procurement
  • Green Our Rides: Adopt and support zero-emissions transportation methods
  • Foster a Sustainability Ethic: Engage the NPS workforce, partners, visitors, stakeholders and communities to support and participate in sustainability, climate resilience and environmental justice

All these goals are intended to reduce environmental impact while simultaneously adapting to climate change. And, yes, you read that right: The NPS’ latest plan commits to adopting zero-emissions transportation methods in the parks.

“The world is in a climate crisis, and the NPS is front and center in viewing climate impacts,” said Charles Sams, National Park Service director, in the plan’s third edition. “As such, the NPS is renewing its operational sustainability goals with a bold vision to attain net-zero status in its parks.”

How NPS partners with the community

Specific sustainability initiatives differ slightly depending on the park. At Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which the NPS reports is consistently the most-visited national park in the country, human-caused pollution from the surrounding area has led to smoggy views, reducing the park’s visibility from 93 to 25 miles. The solution? A partnership with seven local shuttle companies to reduce congestion and fossil fuel emissions, according to National Geographic.

At Zion National Park, which more than 4 million people visited in 2023, Kupper points to the recent introduction of an all-electric shuttle fleet. And while Zion is the first park in the National Park system to make this transition, Kupper says similar shifts are underway at Grand Canyon, Acadia, Yosemite, Bryce Canyon and Harpers Ferry national parks.

The list of recent and ongoing sustainability projects doesn’t stop there. Grand Canyon National Park lets visiting cyclists skip the long lines and ride their bikes into the park. In Colorado, national parks, including Great Sand Dunes, use the slogan “half the park is after dark” to encourage guests to visit at night; they’re certified as an International Dark Sky Park by Dark Sky International, which means they meet strict standards for sky darkness, limiting outdoor lighting and reducing light pollution.

Kupper notes that the NPS also works to reduce its environmental impact using sustainable material management in NPS operations, which includes locally sourcing environmentally friendly construction materials and diverting solid waste from landfills. The service has a goal of diverting 50% of municipal solid waste by 2025 (and 75% by 2030), all while reducing per-visitor waste generation annually.

When it comes to adapting to climate change, some national parks are more at risk to climate-related disasters than others. At Denali National Park in Alaska, a landslide caused by thawing permafrost cut the park’s only road in half. In Everglades National Park in Florida, rising sea levels and intensifying hurricane seasons have stressed coral reefs and shuttered visitor centers. In 2022, Yellowstone National Park and surrounding communities experienced historic flooding and mudslides that destroyed several bridges, roads and trails, even sweeping entire buildings away.

But the impacts of climate change aren’t limited to just a few national parks. A 2021 National Park Vulnerability Assessment from the Natural Resource Stewardship and Science directorate found that nearly 75% of parks are at risk, either from the ongoing, cumulative effects of climate change or a more specific climate event like a forest fire, summer drought, sea level rise or forest pests.

“Rising temperatures risk destabilizing the balance between wildlife and their ecosystem,” according to an NPS report on wildlife and climate change, which means some animals and plant life will no longer be supported by the habitats they’ve long called home. It’s likely that a warming planet will even impact visitor patterns

In 2024, the NPS announced it was the recipient of $15 million from the Biden-Harris administration for new projects to “build climate resilience, address climate change impacts, and restore healthy lands and waters at national parks and in surrounding communities across the country.”

“As our climate continues to change, it’s imperative that the National Park Service works to ensure our most treasured landscapes can adapt,” Sams adds. “I’m thrilled to see these projects getting additional support, furthering our investment in America’s resilient future.”

Mindfulness is a word that we’ve all become more acquainted with in today’s world as mental health has shifted from the back burner to a front-facing priority. Mindfulness can involve our environment, the people around us, ourselves and our thoughts. We now know that this idea of becoming more in tune with ourselves offers a wealth of benefits. Beyond easing your mind and providing inner peace, learning how to practice mindfulness can also have a positive impact in other areas. It can benefit your physical health, relationships and professional life. Many of the world’s most successful people exercise mindfulness. This practice enables them to improve their focus, productivity, resilience and decision-making skills.

Mindfulness and learning how to enhance focus are abilities we are all capable of. But, truly harnessing its power takes continuous practice. Luckily, there are techniques you can adopt to seamlessly incorporate mindfulness into your life so that it will stick with you well into the future.

What Is Mindfulness And Why Does It Matter?

Mindfulness can mean many different things and can manifest in a multitude of ways. But, at its core, it is the ability to be fully aware of the present moment without judgment. The components of paying attention, on purpose and with a lack of judgment, are key to being successful at this practice.

Mindfulness Helps Us Stay Present And Gain Clarity

According to Alexa Bonacquisti, PhD, PMH-C, a psychologist and assistant professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, our brains tend to “time travel.” This means we are commonly hung up on things from the past or, conversely, we’re worrying about the future. Mindfulness brings us back to real time. Here, we can acknowledge our thoughts and feelings. But, instead of labeling them as positive or negative, we are simply taking them at face value. Bonacquisti explains that this allows us to see things more clearly, fully engage and even reconnect to our purpose and values.

Mindfulness Can Help Reduce And Manage Stress

Mindfulness is also valuable because it has been shown to reduce stress. Neuroscience research has shown that mindfulness dampens activity in our amygdala and increases connections between the amygdala and prefrontal cortex. These areas of the brain help us to better manage the way we react to stress. In a 2021 study from Frontiers in Psychology, this is seen in action. The results from the study of 400,000 participants showed that mindfulness was associated not only with lower perceived stress but also with higher work engagement.

Since stress management is crucial for regulating your emotions, maintaining good cognitive performance and more, mindfulness can be highly beneficial to our everyday lives.

Benefits Of Practicing Mindfulness For Success

Mindfulness can help you in all facets of your life, allowing you to be more grounded and emotionally aware. But, it also has many applications specifically in the professional world. Mindfulness practices for professionals can allow you to find more success in your career for the following reasons:

  • Reduced Stress: Mindfulness allows you to better manage your reactions to pressure and stressors, leading to more sustained performance.
  • Enhanced Focus & Productivity: By reducing distractions and focusing only on the here and now, you can improve your concentration and work output.
  • Increased Resilience: A better mindset helps you to see the big picture and bounce back quickly from setbacks.
  • Better Decision-Making: Eliminating the perception of what is “good” and what is “bad” in terms of your thoughts, feelings and sensations can help with decision-making. It allows you to find clarity more quickly and make thoughtful choices.
  • Improved Relationships: A clear mind allows you to be more present in your communications and helps you to foster empathy for those around you.

Simple Mindfulness Techniques For Daily Practice

Thinking about how to learn mindfulness can feel daunting, but you don’t have to be a guru or meditation expert to reap its benefits. All you need is a little bit of time and some guidance. Use these mindfulness practices to help you learn how to enhance focus and kickstart your journey of awareness.

  • Mindful Breathing: Intentionally focus on your breath for at least a few minutes to stop your mind from wandering. Really take note of your inhales and exhales and the rise and fall of your chest.
  • Body Scan Meditation: Starting from your toes, examine each of your body parts individually, checking for pain, tension or abnormalities. This can help you connect to your body and assess how you are feeling.
  • Mindful Observation: Beyond just yourself and your body, take mental note of all the things around you. Get all your senses involved (sight, sounds, smell, touch and maybe even taste!). Appreciate what you experience, and don’t judge yourself for thoughts that may arise.
  • Gratitude Practice: Write down in a journal or simply recall the things you are grateful for at that moment. Try including little things like daily achievements, simple pleasures or positive interactions.
  • Stretch/Yoga: Take yourself slowly through simple movements. Pay close attention to your breathing and the way your body moves.
  • Visualization: Close your eyes and envision a safe and peaceful place, like a beach or mountain cabin, to promote calmness.

Quick Tip: If you’re curious about how to increase mindfulness and deepen your practice, consider exploring more techniques in this Mindfulness Matters e-book.

How to Incorporate Mindfulness Into Your Routine

One of the benefits of mindfulness is that it requires no tools or prior experience. No matter where you are or what you’re doing, you can learn how to practice mindfulness with these techniques. All that’s left to do is fit them into your current routine so they can become a natural and seamless part of your life. Follow these tips to learn how to practice mindfulness regularly.

  • Start Small: Dedicate just 5–10 minutes a day to mindfulness practices. Then, you can devote more and more time to it as you see fit.
  • Incorporate Into Daily Activities: Try things like mindful walks, mindful eating and mindful meditation. In short, use every opportunity you have to silence the noise and check in with yourself.
  • Use Technology: Apps such as Headspace or Calm can help you with the above. They lead you through guided meditations, breathing exercises and more. Plus, they have the ability to send you reminders about mindfulness, mood check-ins and even bedtimes.
  • Mindfulness at Work: Practice active listening. Take mindful breaks throughout the day and consider committing to only single-tasking (since multitasking has been shown to increase stress levels and decrease productivity).
  • Set Intentions: Begin each day and each mindful practice with a clear goal. This could be something like improving self-awareness or working on inner peace.

Practice Mindfulness For Long-Term Success

Some of the effects of mindfulness can be felt almost instantaneously. You may leave a session of mindful breathing refreshed or come out of a yoga class feeling as though a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. But, it’s also important to learn how to practice mindfulness so that it can help you in the long term.

When you complete mindfulness exercises, you’re building skills such as self-control, coping mechanisms and emotional intelligence. This happens because you are becoming more in touch with your own thoughts and their effects.

Because mindfulness is rooted in mental focus, it also helps us to reduce stress and improve cognitive ability—since we aren’t being bombarded with distracting thoughts. Over time, these benefits help to prevent burnout and set you up for both personal and professional growth.

Here are just a few examples of well-known businesspeople and celebrities who habitually practice mindfulness to boost productivity and bolster their success:

  • Arianna Huffington (Huffington Post Founder, President and Editor-In-Chief) – Huffington told High Existence that she starts every day with deep breathing and setting intentions before doing 20-30 minutes of meditation and yoga most mornings as well. She credits much of her success and lack of burnout to her self-care routines.
  • LeBron James (Professional NBA Player) – James has been known to meditate, even on the bench during high-stakes games. He says that much of his success and longevity is thanks to this focus on his mental health. James also has a partnership with the Calm app.
  • Lady Gaga (Singer, Songwriter and Actress) – To overcome chronic pain and mental struggles, Lady Gaga uses meditation. In the past, she has live-streamed herself practicing meditation on social media so that fans could join in. For these sessions, she’s shared mantras such as “I am calm,” “I am light,” “I am loved” and “I’m ok.”

Harness The Power Of Mindfulness Today

Mindfulness is all about letting go of the past and disregarding the future so you can be fully present in the moment. In this space, you can pay attention to what’s happening right now within you and around you without judgment. It can be as simple as noticing your breath, the sounds around you or how your body feels. By practicing mindfulness, you can reduce stress, improve focus and enhance your self-awareness. This helps you to be more productive and successful in the long term. And the best part? You don’t have to start big. Just a few minutes of mindful breathing or visualization can make a difference.
